MY STORY
Born and bred in Malahide in Co. Dublin, Ireland I came through my youth trying every sport going and became a competitive sailor through my teens never realising I had untapped athletic potential. It was only in 2005 aged 26 that I started competitive running just for health and fitness but I quickly found I had natural ability. Following multiple injuries I started to train more on the bike and then tried Duathlon (run, bike, run format racing) in late 2006. I very quickly found success winning the World and European age group Duathlon Championships in 2008 and then set my sights on competing at the highest level.

MY STORY
Born and bred in Malahide in Co. Dublin, Ireland I came through my youth trying every sport going and became a competitive sailor through my teens never realising I had untapped athletic potential. Following multiple injuries I started to train more on the bike and then tried Duathlon (run, bike, run format racing) in late 2006. I very quickly found success winning the World and European age group Duathlon Championships in 2008 and then set my sights on competing at the highest level.
In 2010 I made the move up to racing at Pro-Elite level in the World Powerman Duathlon series which is a huge step up from the Amateur racing which I had previously succeeded at. I made my debut at the European Champs in Holland and came a solid 18th place. Growing at this level I then placed 8th at Powerman Germany and with further improvement I came 6th in the highly prestigious Powerman Austria event and then consolidated a successful season with 8th place at the inaugural Powerman Italy event at Como and finished the year with a world ranking of 23rd. I also won the London Duathlon Ultra race setting a new course record time.
2011 saw further improvement with my highest ever Powerman finish at Powerman Italy coming home 5th and then taking 4th in the prestigious Fos International Duathlon Val d’Aran in France. I also had a 10th and 12th at Powerman Germany and Vlaanderen respectively on top of 14th at the European Champs in Holland. But the highlight of the season was racing Elite at the ITU World Powerman Duathlon Champs in Switzerland which is renowned as the worlds toughest Duathlon. I finished 18th in a very quick time for a debutant and finished the season with a world ranking of 15th.
In 2012 my goal is to continue my improvement on the world stage and I will to return to the Legendary World Powerman Championships in Zofingen with the goal of going 15 minutes quicker than 2011 and with plans for a top 10 finish as well as a top 10 world ranking at the end of the year.
